The 21st 24fps Int’l Short Film Festival in the US awards Iranian short ‘Manicure’.

The 21st edition of the 24fps International Short Film Festival in the US has awarded Iranian short ‘Manicure’.

Directed by Arman Fayyaz, the 14-minute film won Special Jury Award at International Fiction section of the US film event.

‘Manicure’ tells the story of a man struggling to cope with the unexpected death of his wife who committed suicide in a village. He has to bury his wife, but the villagers refuse to bury the corpse in the holy tomb of the village.

It has so far gone on screen at some global events, including the 2018 Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films in the US, the 46th annual Telluride Film Festival in the US, the 2019 Imagineindia International Film Festival in Spain, the 43rd Cleveland International Film Festival in the US, the 24th IFVA Festival in Hong Kong, the 35th annual Sundance Film Festival in the US, the 29th Istanbul International Short Film Festival in Turkey, and the 2018 Encounters Film Festival in the UK.

‘Manicure’ has won awards such as the best film award at the Big Bang International Short Film Festival in Greece, the 5th Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival in the US, the 19th Yari Iranian Film Festival in Sweden, the 3rd City Blue Film Awards in Spain, and the 2018 Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival in Brazil.

The 24fps International Short Film Festival aims to celebrate and encourage student and independent filmmakers.

The 21st edition of the 24fps was held on November 8-9, 2019 in Abilene, Texas.
